Clients use Global Law Lists to choose a lawyer. Every profile must therefore be accurate, factual and fair to the reader.
These standards apply to all law firm and lawyer profiles, and to any job or event a member publishes, on Global Law Lists.org™ (“Global Law Lists”, “we”), operated by Weblaya Digital Bhutan, Thimphu, Kingdom of Bhutan. They form part of our Terms and Conditions. Articles, jobs and events must also follow our Publishing Guidelines.
01Factual content
#Describe the practice as it is: the areas of law, the jurisdictions, the offices, the languages and the people. Every statement must be true, current and capable of being checked. Keep the profile up to date, and correct it as soon as something changes.
02Licensing and authority
#Only firms and lawyers licensed or otherwise authorised to provide legal services in the jurisdictions they list may appear as members. Whoever creates, claims or edits a profile confirms, each time, that the information is accurate and that they are authorised to act for the firm or lawyer named. We may ask for evidence of admission or registration at any time.
03No misleading claims
#Profiles may not contain promotional or misleading claims. In particular, they may not:
- describe the firm or lawyer as the best, No. 1, top-rated, leading, premier, world-class or the most experienced;
- promise or imply an outcome, such as guaranteed results, “we will win your case”, a 100% success rate or never losing;
- claim a certification or specialisation that a recognised body has not granted;
- describe the profile as verified, or as accredited, endorsed or ranked by Global Law Lists. Only members are verified, and only by us;
- pressure readers with phrases such as “act now” or “limited time”; or
- compare the firm with other firms, for example “better than other firms” or “cheapest”.
Our forms check for these phrases and will not save them. Some words, such as “experienced” or “expert”, are allowed but flagged for the member to check.
04Reviews and recognition
#Reviews must come from genuine clients about their own experience. Writing, buying or arranging reviews of your own practice, or reviews of a competitor, is not permitted. An award or ranking may be named only with its exact title, the year and the body that gave it.
05Fees
#Any statement about fees must be accurate and complete enough not to mislead. Conditional or contingency arrangements, such as “no win, no fee”, must be described with their main conditions, including any costs the client may still have to pay.
06Our right to edit or remove
#We may edit, suspend or remove any content, profile or membership that is misleading, cannot be verified or breaches these standards, with or without notice. Profiles that have not been claimed are compiled from public sources and are marked as not verified by the firm.
07Reporting a profile
#If a profile is inaccurate, misleading or represents a firm or lawyer without authority, use the Report button on the profile, or email [email protected] with the subject “Listing report” and the profile link. We review every report.
